Abby's first day of Kindergarten

Today was Abby's first day of Kindergarten.  She was very excited to ride the bus all by herself.
This morning, she told me it was going to be a very hard day.  When I asked her if she was nervous about going to school, she quickly responded, "No."  I asked her why it was going to be a hard day.  Her response was that she was going to be working hard ALL day long!

Abby makes sure her bus tag is just right while waiting for the bus in our driveway.
I LOVE the fact that her bus stop to and from school is the end of our driveway!

Abby is all smiles while waiting for the bus.

Abby and Michael play while waiting.

And she is off!.....

She had a great day!  When she came home, I asked her all about her first day of school.  After her report, I asked her what her favorite part of the day was.  She said, "I had two favorite parts.  One was writing a word all by myself.  The other was chasing Christopher [a neighbor friend] on the playground."  Coley is going to love hearing that his little girl is the one chasing boys on the playground! :)

More and more pictures....

A few weeks ago, I took Abby to get her 5 year-old pictures taken.  She loved being in front of the camera that day and was more than willing to do all the different poses the photographer requested.  It was one of those picture-taking experiences that made it difficult to choose just one I liked.

We also got several great pictures of Abigail and Michael together.

Here are some of the treasures....

Yeah for New Carpet!

About three weeks ago, we got new carpet throughout the entire house.  It was a CRAZY weekend of moving furniture, pulling up carpet, pad and staples, and trying to keep Abby and Michael entertained amid the chaos.  We were all wiped out after our busy weekend, but it was definitely worth it.  Michael is still walking around saying, "Carpet! Carpet!"  It feels so nice!

This was our less than ideal sleeping situation for one of the nights.  Michael stayed awake until almost midnight because everything was so different!

Here are a few shots of parts of the house during and after the process...

 The Master Bedroom

 The upstairs hallway

 Michael's room

Now that the new carpet is in place, we have been working hard rearranging rooms upstairs in preparation for the new baby.  We are getting close to being ready.

Call the doctor!

A few days ago while Abigail was playing with her Barbies, she came to me and very seriously said, "Mom, we need to call Dr. Bennett."  Dr. Bennett is her pediatrician.  I asked her why and she told me that her mermaid Barbie had a beard.  She didn't have the Barbie in her hand, so I had no idea what she was talking about.  I tried not to laugh as I told her that the pediatrician's office wasn't even open yet, but I was sure Barbie would be okay.

The next morning while Coley was shaving, Abby brought Barbie to our bathroom to show us how serious Barbie's medical condition really was.

Barbie really did have a beard!

We didn't call Dr. Bennett, but Dr. Mom came to the rescue with a pair of scissors.  Barbie is cured!

My Little Man

On Sunday, Michael wore his suit to church.  He was very proud of the fact that he had a tie just like Daddy.  Here is a picture of my little man.

I'm glad I got a picture of him before we left.  He didn't look quite the same after church (think nursery snacks, sleeves rolled up, etc.)  Even after church, he was talking about his tie.

Tooth Fairy Time

Abigail lost her first tooth tonight.  I think it would have taken a few more days of wiggling before it actually came out, but she decided she wanted to eat an apple after dinner tonight and declined the offer for me to slice it.  She is very excited for the tooth fairy to visit tonight!

Bus Safety

Last week Abigail attended the Bus Safety program for new Kindergartners in the district.  They were able to take a bus ride from the middle school to the transportation office.  At that point, they moved from station to station, learning all about how to be safe on and around the bus.

It was so fun to watch all of the children.  They all seemed so excited to be so close to starting school.  It was a really fun evening.

Abigail stands with her group as she learns about the "danger zone" around the bus.

Abigail and another girl in her group practice looking both ways before crossing the street in front of the bus.

Abigail practices loading and unloading the bus with her group.

Now all of these new Kindergartners are experts in bus safety.  Abby is SO excited to ride the bus!  She still has a few weeks before school starts, but she is ready.
