Yeah for New Carpet!

About three weeks ago, we got new carpet throughout the entire house.  It was a CRAZY weekend of moving furniture, pulling up carpet, pad and staples, and trying to keep Abby and Michael entertained amid the chaos.  We were all wiped out after our busy weekend, but it was definitely worth it.  Michael is still walking around saying, "Carpet! Carpet!"  It feels so nice!

This was our less than ideal sleeping situation for one of the nights.  Michael stayed awake until almost midnight because everything was so different!

Here are a few shots of parts of the house during and after the process...

Now that the new carpet is in place, we have been working hard rearranging rooms upstairs in preparation for the new baby.  We are getting close to being ready.

Call the doctor!

A few days ago while Abigail was playing with her Barbies, she came to me and very seriously said, "Mom, we need to call Dr. Bennett."  Dr. Bennett is her pediatrician.  I asked her why and she told me that her mermaid Barbie had a beard.  She didn't have the Barbie in her hand, so I had no idea what she was talking about.  I tried not to laugh as I told her that the pediatrician's office wasn't even open yet, but I was sure Barbie would be okay.

The next morning while Coley was shaving, Abby brought Barbie to our bathroom to show us how serious Barbie's medical condition really was.

Barbie really did have a beard!

We didn't call Dr. Bennett, but Dr. Mom came to the rescue with a pair of scissors.  Barbie is cured!

My Little Man

On Sunday, Michael wore his suit to church.  He was very proud of the fact that he had a tie just like Daddy.  Here is a picture of my little man.

I'm glad I got a picture of him before we left.  He didn't look quite the same after church (think nursery snacks, sleeves rolled up, etc.)  Even after church, he was talking about his tie.

Tooth Fairy Time

Abigail lost her first tooth tonight.  I think it would have taken a few more days of wiggling before it actually came out, but she decided she wanted to eat an apple after dinner tonight and declined the offer for me to slice it.  She is very excited for the tooth fairy to visit tonight!

Bus Safety

Last week Abigail attended the Bus Safety program for new Kindergartners in the district.  They were able to take a bus ride from the middle school to the transportation office.  At that point, they moved from station to station, learning all about how to be safe on and around the bus.

It was so fun to watch all of the children.  They all seemed so excited to be so close to starting school.  It was a really fun evening.

Abigail stands with her group as she learns about the "danger zone" around the bus.

Abigail and another girl in her group practice looking both ways before crossing the street in front of the bus.

Abigail practices loading and unloading the bus with her group.

Now all of these new Kindergartners are experts in bus safety.  Abby is SO excited to ride the bus!  She still has a few weeks before school starts, but she is ready.

32 Weeks

I am now at the 32 week mark in my pregnancy.  My visits with the OB are sometimes one week apart and sometimes two weeks apart depending on what craziness is happening.  I am checking my blood pressure daily at home; it has been behaving for the most part.

A couple of weeks ago, I had a little adventure.  After a few high blood pressure readings at the doctor's office, I have been instructed to call the doctor right away if I experience any symptoms of preeclampsia.  On Sunday morning (July 22), Coley was attending his early morning meetings at church.  I was home getting the rest of us ready for church when I started having blurred vision.  I was also experiencing a terrible headache.  Blurred vision is one of the symptoms on the "call the doctor right away" list.

I knew since it was Sunday, the doctor on call would inevitably send me to the hospital to do blood work and check my blood pressure.  Sure enough, a little while later, Coley and I headed to the labor unit and my sweet neighbor came over to the house to watch Abby and Michael.

Coley and I spent the next several hours hanging out in the labor unit.  My blood pressure looked pretty good and the baby was doing just fine.  The long wait was to see what the blood work showed.  When the results were finally available, everything looked really good except my iron.  In a matter of a month,  it had dropped significantly.

I am now taking more iron in an attempt to get my levels back up.  The doctor said it should help with fatigue.  It has, but now I find myself doing more, so I am still tired. :)

In any case, I'm very grateful that everything is still moving along without too much drama.  I am hopeful that I can make it through the next several weeks without being put on bed rest.  I have 5 more weeks until the baby is considered full term and 8 weeks until my due date.
